Service Description

Maker Art’s Build and Paint ceramics classes feature a kiln fired fully functional work of art crafted by each individual maker. During these classes students will have the ability to learn many handbuilding techniques including but not limited to slab formation, coil rolling, and pinch pots. We will discuss and utilize processes to add our own personal touches including sculpting, etching, and pressing. All ceramic creations are fired with nontoxic food safe glazes unless otherwise noted. MAY BUILD AND PAINT- IKEBANA VASES Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Dissimilar to its Western counterpart Ikebana showcases starker arrangements with each element playing a key part in the floral display. This month we will be constructing modern Ikebana vases. Utilizing pinch pot, slumping, coil, and sculptural hand-building techniques these floral vessels will showcase the individuality of each maker (and flower). Ceramic art will be available for pick-up 3-5 days after the second class of the month. CLASS INFO: $65 | two 90 minute classes | 4-5:30 | May 10th and 24th * Tuition includes all material, glaze, and firing costs. ** 10% sibling discount available, use code MAKER10 at checkout.
